The roots of Temple Builders, LLC began in 1989.
Richard A. Smith, Assoc., AIA, was then a fourth year student at the prestigious City College School of Architecture, City University of New York. The Pastor of his church at the time, Bishop Earl Mckay (Church of God of Prophecy, Bronx N.Y.), asked that he assist with Building Committee in the design of the sanctuary, and also help with supervision of the contractor and the work.
When that project was eventually completed successfully, Bishop McKay recommended Richard's services to a fellow Pastor in Brooklyn.
Mr. Smith was now working successfully in the Construction Management field as Assistant Project manager for a national real estate developer and builder. Mr. Smith worked with the new church during the evenings and weekends in order to assist them complete their new church building (467 Rutland Road, Brooklyn N.Y.).
This church was also completed successfully. With only word of mouth, Mr. Smith was now being requested to assist several churches with various church design and construction projects.
As time went on, Mr. Smith continued to gain design and heavy construction experience by working for some of the largest entities in the World, Morse Diesel International, Madision Equities Developers, American International Group,The McKissack Group, and also the New York City School Construction Authority.
In 2006, Temple Builders, LLC was formally incorporated to address the design, construction and financing needs of the urban church, within the New York City Tri-State Area.
